Much like creating an email out of HTML no longer requires technical skills and can be done via drag and drop or WYSIWYG editors, needing a deep understanding of CSS to create, use and benefit from Grids as part of your application development initiatives is no longer a requirement in 2021 thanks to advances in technology, but what exactly are grids, and how can you benefit from using them?

What are grids?

Ultimately any sort of web interface is built on top of a grid that was likely laboured over by seriously skilled technical developers. These grids actually power whatever technology you’re using, they’re just unnoticed by the untrained eye.

Essentially, a grid is going to display data to you in a series of rows and columns that combine to form a table, much like an excel spreadsheet but more feature-rich.

The grids we will be referring to from here on out are the ones used in Enterprise Application; in the creation, testing and use of these applications.

Unfortunately, whilst anyone with coding skills can create these kind of grids on their own, it’s likely that they will be vulnerable to performance-hampering bugs and lack features as there is a steep learning curve.

That’s why 3forge has developed a platform to take care of all this for you so that you can build your own ideal environment for tasks such as data analysis without the complex technicalities often involved in such work.

Why the 3forge grid is relevant to you:

Comparisons of the best web grids of last year overwhelmingly demonstrate a couple of things about other web grids: they require more heavy-duty hardware and our less performant than ours.

If you’re a developer interested in building dashboards for monitoring and reporting purposes in your organisation, and are looking for a low-code, flexible and scalable solution to do so, you know that you need a quick, efficient tool.

The good news is that in 2021 and beyond these solutions not only exist, but are affordable and easy to use.

The benefits of using a tool such as this are myriad:

  • They’re browser-based and can be set up rapidly
  • They integrate with your external applications
  • They leave an audit trail
  • You can build and share dashboards in the cloud
  • Set up alerts and error handling
  • Highly secure

Perhaps the biggest benefit to taking care of your grids in this way is utilising your existing data infrastructure, rather than having to build a new one.

With specific regards to 3forge, we’re more performant than other grids because we have much faster rendering times, less memory consumption, updating in real-time and a much less steep learning curve than the competition.
